栗谷さと子

1988年福井県生まれ。主に神奈川県で育つ。 2007年、長野県松本市に移住。山に惹かれて進学した信州大学理学部、信州大学大学院で生物科学を専攻。動植物の観察スケッチが得意だった。 卒業後は松本に残りカンデラゲストハウスや浅間温泉下宿 篶竹荘 / 第2ペンギン荘を運営しながら、イラストレーターとしても経験を重ね、現在は画業を活動の中心としている。 雑誌の連載や商品パッケージのイラストの他、似顔絵や風景画など個人の方からもさまざまな制作依頼を引き受けており、依頼人様の想いをくみ取る事を大切にしながら仕事をしている。 趣味は旅、登山、サイクリング。旅先や日常生活での事をイラスト日記に描くのはライフワークの一つで、旅先でのスケッチおよび旅日記の展覧会は国内外の各地で行っている。 2022年、ニュージーランドへ移住。小さな奇跡の積み重ねが導く予想外な人生の展開を楽しもうと思っている。

KURIYA Satoko (Kuri)

I was born in Japan in 1988. My major in university was Biology, so I am good at observing creatures carefully and sketching them. After finishing my master's degree program in Shinshu university in 2013, I started my career as an artist while working at Candela Guest House, which was a backpackers that I ran with my friends in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan. I have drawn a wide range of pictures from little illustrations to a big mural. My main medium is watercolour, but I use acrylics, and do print making as well. As I am interested in travel and nature, I like to draw visual journals that capture things that happened on my travels and sketch natural scenery that I saw in daily life. I also draw portraits and design things like packages and maps by request. I am glad when my art makes people happy. I moved from Japan to New Zealand in 2022. I appreciate all of the people and things that create my wonderful unexpected life.
