NZスノーボード日記 Travel Journal: Snowboarding in Mt Dobson 2025
New Zealandにて、友達と一緒にMt Dobson Ski Areaへ2日間のスノーボード旅行に行ってきました。2日間とも良い天気で、雪山についた青いスキーの滑り跡がかっこよかったです。
初日のスタートはまずまずで、数年ぶりのスノーボードだった去年より上手く滑れている感じがしたものの、コツがつかめて来てスピードが出てきた頃、思いっきり転んでお尻がめちゃ痛い！（結局完治するまでに2週間かかった…）
その日の夜はスキー場からそう遠くない友達のSophiaの家に泊めてもらい、一緒にご飯を食べ、暖炉の前でゲームをして遊び、あたたかで心地よい楽しい夜を過ごしました 🙂
2日目は転倒への恐怖がまだ少し残っている感じがしたものの、友達のアイディアで余ってる服をお尻の周りに巻き付けて尻パッドにすることで解決！お尻を突き出すのが怖くなくなることで、膝をより深く曲げることができ、よりいい感じにターンができるように！（上手なスノーボーダーが滑っている姿を見たのも理想のフォームをイメージするのに役立ちました！）最後の方は大きな転倒もなく、いい気持ちで滑り終えたので、また次回が楽しみです♪

My friends and I did a 2-day trip to Mt Dobson Ski Area. The weather was great on both 2 days, and the blue ski trails on the snowy mountain looked very cool. The start on the first day was not bad― I felt more comfortable than I was last year, which had been the first time I’d gone snowboarding in a couple of years. But after I got the hang of it and picked up some speed, I had a big fall! My bum hurts so much!! (It actually took me two weeks to heal after that!)
We stayed at our friend Sophia’s place, which was not far from the ski area, that night. We had dinner together and played some games in front of the fire. A warm, cozy, fun night!
On the second day, I still had a bit of fear from the fall, and Sheryl suggested that I wrap clothes around my hips as a bum pad. It was a beautiful, warm day and I didn’t need to wear my fleece as a middle layer, so I used the fleece as a bum pad. After I got the bum pad, I felt safer and found it easier to make turns, since I wasn’t afraid to stick out my bum―it also gave my knees more flexibility! (Watching the form of a good snowboarder sliding down the hill also helped me visualize the ideal form.) I think I understood snowboarding a wee bit better. I didn’t have any big falls in the end and finished this snowboarding with a good feeling!
