アクリル画 Acrylic Painting “Oamaru After Dark”
数年前にリトル・ブルー・ペンギンが細長い影を落としながら歩く姿を見て以来その光景は頭の中のペイントアイディア集にずっと保存されていたのですが、絵描き友達のブレントがペイント用に細長い板をくれたので、件のペンギンと影を描くのにピッタリだと思い構想を練り始めました。
オアマルの見所と言えば夜のペンギン・ウォッチングですが、客人をペンギン観察に連れて行く時はいつも帰り道にスチームパンクHQの前の機関車を案内します。音を立てながら火を噴き上げる機関車は今にも発車しそうで、ファンタジー感のあるなかなか感動的な光景です。そんな訳でオアマルの夜の名所を一つの絵にまとめました。
A few years ago, I saw little blue penguins walking with long, narrow shadows, and I kept the scene in mind as an idea for a future painting. My artist friend Brent Harpur gave me a long narrow board to paint on, which felt perfect for painting those penguins and their shadows.
Whenever I take visitors to see the penguins at night, I always show them the train outside the Steampunk HQ on the way back. It’s fantastic to watch the train breathe fire and make noises as if it’s really about to take off. So I decided to combine all of those must-do Oamaru experiences into one painting.
