旅日記 Travel Journal : Kahikatea lodge trip
I went to Kahikatea lodge with my friend’s family. On the way to the carpark, there was a rock that looked like a frog. During the hike, I learned some plants and especially poisonous ongaonga (New Zealand native nettle) was the most impressive! We found some bones and met a hunter who was carrying deer legs on his shoulders as this area is a hunting area. We arrived at the lodge at lunch time and had lunch there. At the lodge, we played some games, and I did some drawings for kids, too. In the afternoon, we took some walks. I brought candy cigarettes with me and gave them to kids to teach them how to smoke. hehe. Kids enjoyed tussock sliders. Although it was drizzling in the early evening and the wind was roaring, the sky cleared late at night and I saw a starry sky! The next morning, I got up when the sky turned pink. We did stretch well before we started and walked back the way we had come the day before. After we crossed the river,Tom and I wandered in a bush and crossed another two streams and found a nice flat space surrounded with trees that would be suitable for camping. It turned out that the place was only a few minutes away from where we started wandering and didn’t need to go through steep bush and streams though. haha. I like the name of the “falcon hut” that we built for our lunch break. It was fun to hang out with friends and share snacks and drink!
友達家族と一緒にカヒカティア・ロッジに行ってきました。登山口の駐車場へ向かう途中にはまるでカエルのように見える岩がありました。ハイキング中、友達が植物の名前をいくつか教えてくれたのですが、中でも「オンガオンガ」が一番印象的でした。しかも毒のある植物なので要注意。教えてもらえてよかったです。このエリアは狩猟区域なので、鹿の足を担いだハンターのお兄さんに会ったり、動物の骨を見つけたりもしました。ロッジにはお昼頃到着し、そこでランチ。食後はゲームをして遊んだり、子供達のリクエストに応えてお絵描きをしたりしました。その後はお散歩へ。駄菓子のシガレットラムネを持ってきていたので、おやつタイムに子供達にタバコの持ち方を教え込みました(笑) 子供達は急斜面に生える草の上を滑って大はしゃぎ。夕方には小雨が降って、夜中も風が轟々言っていたのですが、空は晴れて満天の星空が見られました♪ 翌朝は空がピンクに染まり出した頃に起床。準備体操をしっかりしてから、前日来た道を戻りました。川を渡った後、トムさんについてしばし周辺探索。急な斜面の薮を通り抜け、さらに2つ川を渡り、キャンプに良さそうな平らで木々に囲まれた良い感じの場所を発見！すごく奥地まで分け入ったと思ったら、実はぐるっと回って探索開始地点からほんの数分離れた場所で、薮や川を渡らずとも行けることが判明(笑) お昼休憩にみんなで作った「はやぶさ小屋」の名前がかっこよくてお気に入り。友達と遊んだり、おやつや飲み物をシェアしたり、とても楽しかったです！
