レストランメニュー Menu for Restaurant Star＆Garter
I made a standing menu on the table for the restaurant Star and Garter Oamaru. This double-sided menu shows pictures and names of four popular dishes, so customers can recognize those delicious meals with illustrations and it helps people who don’t know what to eat. Especially for non-native English speakers like me, it’s not easy to read a menu written in English with no pictures and imagine what the dishes look like. As New Zealand has a lot of tourists and migrants from all over the world, I think this visual menu helps people who are unfamiliar with Kiwiana food.
Although I have been thinking of the importance and usefulness of a visual menu for over the years, this is the first time for me making it. I was glad to get a chance to do it. Thank you for giving me a good opportunity, Katie the owner of the Star & Garter!!
レストラン「スター&ガーター」の卓上メニューを作らせていただきました。このメニューは両面に計4種の人気メニューのイラストと料理名を載せてあり、お客さんがイラストと共に料理を認識できるようにしてあります。私のような英語が母国語でない人にとっては、絵や写真がなく英語のみで書かれたメニューはパッと見でどんな料理なのか想像しづらいですが、イラスト入りのメニューでニュージーランド料理に馴染のない世界中から来る観光客や移住者でも簡単に注文できるようになるといいなと思います。
イラスト入りのメニューの重要性と有用性については何年も前から考えていたのですが、実際にメニューを作らせていただいたのは今回が初めてで、実現することができて嬉しかったです。チャンスをくれたスター&ガーターのオーナー、ケイティに感謝です！
